September 27, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 430) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week I am recovering from my wounds, but there is tragic news when I go to get my punctured tire fixed. Apparently two of the tires were not changed last time I did them (about 3 years ago) and were dangerously low, causing an unexpected loss of nearly $200.

September 20, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 429) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week I am still fighting the leper like scabs and ickiness.

September 17, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 265: Calling in sick - Link
Last podcast I said I'd have one out in a week, but it turns out I've been really sick, and have scabs and ickiness going on, so I didn't feel well enough to do anything. So this week is just an update that I'm feeling sick, and I'll try for getting back on schedule in two weeks.

Do note though that Bioware is having a voice over contest, so those like me who are into amateur voice work will definitely want to check that out.

September 13, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 428) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week I am boosted by possibly getting a gaming group together to start a campaign I'd run, but disappointed in that they don't genuinely seem to want to play. In the later days of this week I am scared with things that make icky puss, and I feel low, and like a leper.

September 10, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 264: Boost - Link
In this podcast I give a boost / shout out to the newest version of Dungeons and Dragons and the public library.
September 6, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 427) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week I have a pretty good time with my pen and paper gaming. But as with all things that were a part of my old life, doing them differently, doing them as I am, doing them in unfamiliar places or with unfamiliar people, seems to remind me of what I miss about the ways I used to do them, and makes me sad that such changes must be so.

September 1, '16 - Thursday - System recommendation updates - systems link
New system recommendations posted.
August 30, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 426) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week I have a big game thing with my pen and paper game, which was super fun, but I still suffer from lingering cold symptoms. As usual, my body seems to be taking forever recovering completely, but I am mostly better.

August 27, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 263: Doomed - Link
In this podcast I talk about how the newest Doom is a perfect restart of the series. It retains all of the speed and fight of the first, while adding on an intriguing single player campaign which feels both engaging and true to the original storyline, while still adding new elements. There are plenty of classic elements done perfectly, as well as plenty of new surprises for fans of the original.
August 23, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 425) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week is another homeless birthday. But unlike years past, I have several presents, and far fewer worries, and it is a better birthday than more years than I can count. Though in the last few days of the fail week I get horribly ill, which puts a damper on the celebrations.

August 20, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 262: Galaxy delivery - Link
In this podcast I talk about Space Run Galaxy. It has the same solid tower defense like experience as the first, but a whole lot more, such as a new and easier quest selection, upgrades to your ship design, a new economy, new enemies, and more.
August 16, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 424) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

Another new game with different people. It went as expected, which means it wasn't really my style. While disappointing, it is something social to do, and it does clarify what I am really looking for.

August 9, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 423) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

This week I do a role playing game with people. Preparations were quite distracting, and for a time I feel a bit more like my old self.

August 6, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 261: Grim Scrolls - Link
In this podcast I talk about Grim Dawn, which is an action role playing game. It is made by the people behind Titan's Quest, so it shares a similar class based talent system. However, it differs from that, and other current A-RPGs in a few ways. Grim Dawn allows for a dual class system, allowing more flexibility in the build, items and item modifiers which allow skills from different classes, and an additional layer of customization through what they call the devotion system. It has a vast amount of customization, however, level ups feel like they have very little meaning because of this, and the customization actually feels overly complex in a bad way. Additionally the maps are static, providing seemingly little replay value since the maps (and theoretically monster and boss positions) would remain the same every time. However, the world is different from other fantasy games, so that provides an interesting diversion from the norm. I think there is probably more bad than good, but if you are looking for an A-RPG which isn't the norm, and can be played offline, you may want to give Grim Dawn a look.

I also give a brief overview of what makes Elder Scrolls: Legends different from other online digital card games .Though my thoughts are a few months old, there are a few things that help ES:L stand out from the rest.

August 2, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 422) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

Changes begin to happen, but I may not see the result for a while.

July 26, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 421) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

With the money finally in my account, bigger things that have been on hold can be done, and smaller changes that will hopefully help me regain balance are put in motion.

July 23, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 260: On the headphones - Link
In this podcast I talk a bit about the new HyperX Cloud 2 headphones I got. They seem pretty solid, but lack the deep and high tones of previous headphones I've had. They are very sturdy construction, feel nice, are quite loud, and bock out external sounds. They ship with both faux-leather ear cuff and a cloth one, which you can switch. And they have a 4-pole plug so they can be used in mobile devices or new consoles, as well as a USB connection for attaching to PC.
July 19, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 420) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

I finally get the first of my monies from my aunt. Some is spent, but most plans for it have to be put off for a bit. But as more options open up because of it things return to the previous homeless normal of when I had a job. And, due to a few unexpected surprises, I am reminded of just how much has been lost, and how much of a stranger I am to my previous life.

July 12, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 419) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

As the first week of year 9 truly begins, and I get closer to the boost in money, I have renewed hope. Yet I find myself reflecting more on the bigger issues which will remain unaffected, creating a mix of happiness, hope, a depression that I may never truly recover from these scars.

July 9, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 259: The 'verse - Link
In this podcast I take a peek at Rebel Galaxy; an inde game about flying around in a big spaceship blowing stuff up and hauling cargo.
July 5, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 9 (week 418) - Link
The start of Epic Fail year 9 is up.

The rest of week 418 continues, as year 9 begins on a seemingly positive note.

June 30, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 418) - Link
The end of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

Early posting of week 418, as these are the last days for year 8. As things come to a close it doesn't really feel like a close and seems like just another day in the unending cycle.

June 28, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 417) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

As things continue to come to a close, the endings continue to make me sad. Though with recent positive movement I hope that when things start anew I'll have an easier time feeling hopeful again.

June 25, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 258: Killin' aliens - Link
In this podcast I talk about XCOM 2; what makes it cool on its own, what's changed since the first one. The game takes place 20 years after the first, after the aliens have taken over the Earth. There is a new board game like element where you need to manage the events you go to and watch the clock. There is also a new loot system which helps your force stay strong, even if you lose soldiers. There are also two new resources, Intel and Supplies, which you'll have to balance spending on. Overall if you enjoyed the first, you'll enjoy the second.
June 21, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 416) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

Another school quarter comes to a close, and with it the sadness of what's passed and what hasn't changed; compounded by the nearing due date of the unpaid car registration, and the approaching end of Fail year 8 and start of year 9.

June 14, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 415) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

This week the cold continues to beat me up and I am emotionally very low because of it. But, there are a few better days among the sad feelings.

June 11, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 257: Be Witchin' - Link
In this podcast I talk a bit more about my experience with Witcher 3. I still have much of the same opinion as before, but loot seems more limited, combat seems more pattern oriented, and I boggle at how easily you can die 'falling'.
June 7, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 414) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

In a huge surprise much of this week turns out to be good days, but today as the week ends it is brought down a bit by a terrible cold.

May 31, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 413) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

An otherwise sad week ends with very warm weather, and an event being with people for a brief while on Sunday.

May 28, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 256: Witching - Link
In this podcast I talk about my experience so far with Witcher 3. Someone got it for me as a gift, and I'd never played the previous games, but it seems a fun open world mix of the Batman Arkham games and elements of Jedi powers.
May 22, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 412) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

A big donation helps to cover most of the things, a surprise game donation, a surprise beta invite; but the inevitability of the sad things continue to weigh on my mind and soul and make it hard to stay happy.

May 17, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 411) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

In the early parts of this week I feel better emotionally, but as things go on I am more and more worried about money, and that it seems I won't be able to pay for all the things that need to be paid.

May 14, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 255: Sad life update - Link
In this podcast I talk about sad life things.
May 10, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 410) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

Things continue to be sad, and I again feel heartbroken.

May 3, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 409) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

Still having allergies, a fun project shoot, a super attractive director girl, and a missing person.

April 30, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 254: Paragons and Syrins - Link
In this podcast I talk about a peek of the Paragon test client. It's a new MOBA which is from a 3rd person perspective focusing more on action. However, I found it incredibly slow, and not very different from existing MOBAs, and the elements they were stressing would be different didn't seem different.

I took a look at some soundtrack software for role playing games called Syrinscape. You can get a few sound sets free and it seems like an interesting option for those looking to add some background sounds to the pen and paper (or board game) play.

April 26, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 408) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

Beaten down by a cold or allergies, it is tough to hang on and not let the worries of bills get me down.

April 19, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 407) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

The cold weather and the cold I have had seem to be leaving. But in their place come memories of who I was, and how that is not me anymore. I worry for my future of me emotionally, as the big bills coming soon loom closer and closer.

April 16, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 253: Battleborn beta - Link
In this podcast I talk about the reasons why I was just not interested in Battleborn after spending only half an hour playing. For me the pacing doesn't feel right, it still feels odd to not have levels or traditional loot, and it really just feels like a game that does little more than taking the Gearbox style to an extreme and doing little more than something that's just fan service to the Borderlands fans.

I also talk briefly about my update to Windows 10, and the lack of native Blu-ray / DVD support.

April 12, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 406) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

The second half of the first week of school passes. Warm spring days start off the fail week, but they are lost as the rain returns. I struggle with enough sleep, and not enough sleep, as stress and a cold beat me down physically.

April 5, '16 - Tuesday - Epic Fail book 8 (week 405) - Link
The next week of Epic Fail year 8 is up.

I survive the second half of spring break, and get a big enough donation to cover a big bill and sign up for classes. Though there is no money left, things seem on track to continue as they should... for the moment.

April 3, '16 - Sunday - System recommendation updates - systems link
New system recommendations posted.
April 2, '16 - Saturday - rabb1t's ramblings podcast 252: Grouping and Guilds; because, reasons - Link
In this podcast I talk about the reasons why I tend to solo more often than I group, and why I tend to shy away from guilds. They are things I've talked about before, but I didn't have anything else and thought others might not have thought about why they do or don't.
