Week 957

Day 6693 - 10/28 - A bit better

Today I feel a bit better. I've been 50% overdoing the allergy pills the doc prescribed to me a while ago and I'm getting a bit clear of congestion. It's still far more than normal and I still worry, but I'm not coughing constantly anymore.

I did some good work on my new stories ebook and that is all ready to go to be put into the e-format tomorrow. It will probably be held through the weekend for approval, so I'll let people know when it's available.

Nothing from dad yet in terms of a response, but he would have only had about one extra day to respond to my last card. I don't really expect anything until maybe next week, which closes the window around Halloween, a time he would normally send something. So we'll see. If not, I'll move on with my life acting as if he's already passed. I don't know why he'd stop writing, but if that continues then there is no point in my repeatedly talking into a void.

But overall today I guess I feel a bit better. My system has not at all been happy with my food, but that isn't uncommon with lunchmeat, especially past the first day. But I hung on ok, and I continue on ok, and hopefully I can have better days ahead.

Day 6694 - 10/29 - Googly

Today was kind of frustrating. I started what was to be the final steps of my story ebook and the program repeatedly crashed. Thankfully it didn't corrupt the file, but the only way I got through it was by literally saving about every 15 seconds, and even then I had to restart the program to prevent crashes or to recover from them about every 2 minutes. It was so completely frustrating and upsetting that when I got through I didn't feel like doing anything else. What was probably only 1.5 to 2 hours of editing time felt like it had been about 5. So after the most critical of editing and setting it up was done I noped out and stopped. Tomorrow I'll give it a more through look through (likely after backing it up) and see if it looks like it is correctly formatted for the final publishing.

Someone made an interesting comment / joke about it, 'hopping to shelves near you soon,' which brought up an interesting point that if the raw text file is like 36 pages in full page size that would easily pass the 24 minimum of a printed version. Especially since the page size I'd put it into is half pages. After it's all set up for epublishing I will probably look into how prices would be set and offset for things like a printed format. That would be kind of neat to see and maybe literally 'put on my shelf.'

I noticed lately with it getting darker earlier on that my car headlights are like googly eyes. One of them seems to be pointing up and the other maybe down. I'm sure not to a degree it would be illegal, but it makes me giggle a little when I notice. And that is maybe a small something nice.

Day 6695 - 10/30 - Fussy

Today I had more issues with my new ebook. First, which makes me very scared for future things, I discovered when exporting the ebook it was not overwriting the old export version. That made me very scared, and I still am a little, that Intimacy Theory may not have the very newest version. I'm pretty sure it does though because I made it 100% done in terms of editing before putting it into that program (due to putting it into the layout program and exporting it as a .pdf thinking that's what they'd use.) So I'm 99% sure since it was just copy, paste, and a touch of formatting after that, that I actually only exported it once ever. With this one it was only 99% done. I did about 3-4 changes of text before exporting. I am worried a bit too though that the first site I uploaded to didn't let me preview the file for some reason, so hopefully it converted what it needed to just fine. Sadly that program is free, and the only one that does similar editing, if I recall correctly, was something ridiculous like $150. No way I could afford that.

I guess the day was otherwise ok. My food was surprisingly ok. (What I got has a high chance of being not great overall, or upsetting my tummy.) I played and had a pretty good time, so that was nice. Though I did feel a bit sad, lonely, and kind of lost, even though releasing the story ebook did make me feel a touch hopeful. (Though there seems to be no way to see sales numbers on any of the three sites.)

So today I hung on ok. And hopefully I can make it to better days.

Day 6696 - 10/31 - Odd treats

Today I have odd treats. I got some strawberries. The other day I checked the regular/old food store for sugar cookies. A few holidays a year they usually have some. Around now it's bats, pumpkins, and ghosts. But there weren't any. In fact, I don't remember seeing them at all this year so far, when normally there would have been some on bunny day and the 4th at least. Candies would be nice, but they have gotten way too expensive at $7.50-9 a bag, double what they used to be just a few years ago. But that is maybe for the best with my increasing chocolate and gluten issues. Though I maybe will check the next couple of days of ones on after Halloween sale.

I guess today was ok. I was pretty sad I have no holiday things to do, and the site my ebook didn't post on didn't work when I tried again today. Though the two I did post it on cleared. So that seemed nice. I have no way to see what sales numbers are on any of them, so unless they let me know a payment was sent, or I notice a mysterious amount appear on my account, I'll have no clue there were sales. I expect half a dozen or so who support me (mostly just emotionally) on the social places may get them, but I don't know if I'll see anything beyond that.

But even though today is pretty sad, and things like my back seems to be sore and hurting a bit, I suppose I made it through the day ok.

Day 6697 - 11/1 - Risk of cheese

Today I decided to risk cheese. Technically cold cheese is on my full ban list, but I think if I don't have the whole pack it should be fine, even though two days in a row is still risky.

My new story ebook cleared the two sites I could submit to. I still have no clue why it isn't submitting on the third. I guess I can give people links to the other two, though I really think only a few people will ever read this.

I guess I feel pretty ok. I still feel a bit sad for a number of reasons, but all things considered I probably feel a bit better than usual at this time of year.

Day 6698 - 11/2 - Regular unknown Monday

Today should be a regular homeless day. I don't think I expect anything special. Maybe I'll get a response from customer service about why my ebook isn't being accepted at the third site. Hopefully I can hang on and have a restful day.

Day 6699 - 11/3 - Regular unknown Tuesday

Today I don't know what to expect. Maybe I'll look into formatting my estory book to print layout. Maybe I'll start refreshing myself on where I left off with my most recent pen and paper thing. Though I feel less and less inclined as time goes on to do anything for it. I think in the last 3 months I've made a single sale, of $1. I guess it's not zero sales, so there is that. But it feels very heartbreaking to put out this thing I put so much love and effort into and it's nowhere near the sales I'd hoped, and now has such little interest it's effectively zero.

But I try my best to 'keep my chin up' and continue to hope for better days.
