Week 901

Day 6301 - 10/1 - Upset by pie

Today my tummy has been upset by pie. It's been almost a year since I last had any. I figured it would be long enough, but I guess my system is just too fragile in general. I had to make several trips to the bathroom during the day. I hope when I get back into a home things like this clear up. It would be sad if I've just become too sensitive due to my age and really can't have any ever.

The rest of my day was pretty good I guess. I actually spent about 4 hours doing pen and paper stuff, nearly double what I normally do, so I guess that is good. It was certainly things I'd have needed to do eventually.

I feel pretty exhausted in general, have all day, but I guess overall today was pretty decent.

Day 6302 - 10/2 - Cooked snack

Today I got a cooked snack on my way out of the library for the night. My tummy had been upset by the food I got to eat for the day, so I thought it might help. The fancy food store is indeed open again, but there are two sad things. First, the area with the microwave seems to have removed the counter it was sitting on and replaced it with trashes. So it seems unlikely the microwave will be returning later. Which is odd, as employees used to use it and eat there. Second, it seems, at least for now, they aren't doing breakfast foods. The person told me they may do them again later, but they are apparently reevaluating things, so that is sad.

I'm pretty exhausted again today. I guess though overall it was a pretty ok day other than that and my tummy being a bit upset all day.

Day 6303 - 10/3 - Pretty good

Today was a pretty good, but different day. It started with watching a live show. Normally it's one I would watch later on in the week, but it's a new season start, so important to see sooner.

Then I changed something in the pen and paper thing I'm working on. It seemed like a good change. Though other progress has slowed, so I may need to redirect what I'm working on to keep interest.

But overall it was a pretty good day. I'm still extra tired, but I slept really good last night, so that was a nice change.

Day 6304 - 10/4 - Slow ideas

Today I did only about half of what I hoped to with my pen and paper stuff. I'm out of easy ideas and so my brain was kind of drawing a blank. I did do some though, so that is good.

My tummy felt off most of the day. I don't know if it was something about the chocolate chip muffin for breakfast, or the salami I had for lunch, but it wasn't feeling great.

I suppose overall the day was pretty good. It certainly could have been a lot worse.

Day 6305 - 10/5 - Ok so far

Today so far is OK. I'm pretty tired feeling, but emotionally kind of feel at peace with things. I just had lunch and my tummy is kind of upset, but it isn't too bad. I still don't know why seemingly everything upsets it to various degrees. I'm beginning to worry I may need to see a doctor about it. But it feels like it's going to feel better soon, so I should be fine. And now with the fancy food store open again I can at least get one cooked meal probably a week (using the food stamp money), so in a few weeks I may see results on improvement due to that.

As always I just try to stay as hopeful and positive as I can, hang onto the few nice things I have, and hope I continue to hang on.

Day 6306 - 10/6 - Probably cold

Today I don't know what to expect. The weather has very suddenly started turning cold, which is weird since like a week ago it was hitting 90F. Lately it's been cold and pouring rain. As always I try to hang on as best as I can and stay dry.

Day 6307 - 10/7 - No expectations

Today I don't expect anything in particular. Hopefully food and tummy are ok today. Hopefully I can do what progress I hope for with my pen and paper stuff. And hopefully I continue to hang on ok.

Week 902

Day 6308 - 10/8 - Less

Today I guess I feel a bit better than I usually do, but it is from eating less. I had 25% less food than I normally would and 50% less soda (so far). So I don't know if that's really a solution. It wasn't very much in terms of calories. And I had nothing extra with my sandwich. I'd have normally had some chips with it. So I really don't know how to progress. I decided 2-3 fancy food store meals per week should be ok as long as it is planned. If I'm careful they are $5-7, which compared to a normal meal is about double, sure, but that is only a difference of about $2-3 per meal more. I should have enough overall food money to be ok with that small of an increase. That change alone might help, since I've been without pre-cooked meals for about 6 months (unless soup having warmed water counts.)

But in terms of 'am I sensitive to red meat' now, or 'am I sensitive to corn,' or 'am I sensitive to gluten,' or 'am I too sensitive to citrus flavors which is in all flavored drinks, soda or not,' all of that I really don't know. I guess my only real option is to again try an elimination diet. Like do something like no bread at all for the next two weeks and see if anything improves. But what about cake? I get pound cake for dessert snacks, and if I stick to a reasonable sized piece I'm often fine. Does that not count in the bread category, and if not, why not? I guess the only real test is full elimination. Test bread, then maybe chips, then soda. But I don't know if that will work. I've tried in the past with no success or results.

I hope maybe something reveals itself and tummy can feel better in the future.

Day 6309 - 10/9 - Bread test

Today I decided to begin the bread test. When I had lunch with no bread, which was some of what I had yesterday, I was fine. Yesterday that same food with bread made me upset. I'll continue with no bread for a couple of weeks and see if things are better. Looking things up a quick search suggests glucose, which I've suspected before. But checking donuts it says they have it too, and so does pound cake, and neither of those upset my tummy (unless I have too much of them.) So if the no bread, sometimes donught and cake test continues and I continue to be fine it is possible some other ingredient in bread is what is affecting me. But if so, what? How would I know which other ingredient?

I'm a bit extra worried at the library now. Yesterday apparently someone's laptop was stolen. In the like 15 years I've been there I've never heard of people's stuff being stolen ever before. (Though I still wonder if that guy I saw was stealing movies and games out of the library boxes.) Looking online there are cheaper security cables that look fine as low as $16, and average closer to $30. I wonder if I need to get one to feel safer. The thing is, if I do then I'd be worried about what if the lock fails to unlock and it's stuck? I would hope they would have bolt cutters to at least cut the line, but what if they don't? Or what if it damages the laptop in regular use? I warned the library when they removed all the cameras except the ones on the doors would indirectly encourage theft, abuse, or other activities, and if it hasn't happened before it certainly has now. I seriously hope they reconsider their position on that because I know I sure as hell would sue the crap out of them if my laptop or other stuff was stolen with effectively no security there.

Outside of that it was actually a good day. I got a bit of a later start after spending time researching lock stuff, but I spent a bit over 2 hours doing pen and paper stuff, so that felt pretty good. I was tempted to do more because I felt ok about it, but the next big steps aren't quite there yet in terms of ideas, so I held off to see if they become a bit more solidified.

So even though I'm a bit worried about the safety of my things, overall it was a better day.

Day 6310 - 10/10 - Upset tummy

Today my tummy has been pretty upset feeling. I noticed last night it did get upset a bit by the cake, and again this morning with a donut, so maybe it is a gluten sensitivity going on. I will continue my experiment of no bread, but also try no donut. I will still have cake for about 5 nights (4 following tonight) so if that is an upsetting element I should see a spike after having it.

But the odd thing is it has felt upset, assumedly from the donut, all day. If it was that seems strange since it's basically now 9 hours later. With the cake snack it was only upset 4-6 hours at most. Unless there was also gluten in the ramen I had, chicken soup, or chips, then it would be very difficult to tell which affected me or by how much. (Hum, looking those up as I type this, it does seem the noodles do have gluten, so it's possible those were repeated doses. And if that's the cause could indeed be the reason. And it may explain why I've had tummy pain a few times a year my whole life typically in connection with spaghetti.)

I had a pretty good day though. There were a couple of live shows I watched so that threw me off a bit in terms of schedule, but I did still do some pen and paper stuff, so that was good. And though it was only for about an hour, I did get to play a little, so that was fun. But my tummy feeling upset all day is weird. It's not super bad, more like it feels like there is a bit of clay stuck in there, but if the bread test, then soda test, doesn't reveal anything I may seriously need to consider having a tummy specialist give me a look.

Day 6311 - 10/11 - Odd experiment results

Today I have some maybe good experiment results. In the morning I felt really good in my tummy. I am continuing with no donuts and no bread, so for lunch I had roast beef, without bread, but with chips. (And dinner was a cooked food from the fancy food store.) The only time my tummy felt kind of bad was briefly after lunch, and for maybe less than 30 minutes. And then weirdly hours later when I started drinking some water it started feeling bad, so I stopped drinking water and felt fine again.

I should really try to get some bottled drinks. Mostly I only get them on super sale due to their being a much higher cost than on sale soda. I try to change my bottle about once a week, but it's been a pretty long time for the current ones I'm using. I don't know what the odds are that something in the bottle is upsetting me, but I suppose it's always possible.

For dessert snack later I will have some cake, so that should be really telling because right now and for most of the day my tummy has felt the best in I can't remember how long. So if the gluten theory holds the cake should upset me for 4-6 hours, then I should be fine again, and if so that will be some real progress. (Though very disappointing as cake is one of the few dessert snacks I have.)

Day 6312 - 10/12 - More strange results

Today I continued the experiment of no bread, but since I felt good in the morning I got a donught to test that, and really it had zero effect on my tummy. So if the results are correct, sourdough had a big effect possibly lasting up to 60 hours, a piece of pound cake had a mild effect lasting up to 6 hours, and donughts may have zero to a very small effect. So it seems possibly most specific to bread, which might be very difficult to narrow down. Maybe in a week I'll have that bread again to test, and depending on the results may try a different kind later, like a bagel.

It's still pretty early for today, but after typing this I may not have a ton of time for all the things, but hopefully I can do some pen and paper stuff and do a bit of playing.

Day 6313 - 10/13 - Forced outside

Today will be a forced outside day. I probably won't have to spend too much time outside just sitting in my car, but things will be off. I can spend a few hours in the place that I get a shower, but sitting won't be at a desk, so I mostly will probably just watch stuff. And now that the fancy food store is open again I may be able to get a few hours there, but there aren't many plugs, so odds seem not great in terms of being able to get one and staying for a few hours.

Hopefully I can do some pen and paper stuff, even if it's just a bit of art for it, but I don't have super high hopes for what I'll get done.

Day 6314 - 10/14 - Hopefully regular again

Today will hopefully be back to a regular homeless day. Maybe continuing the no bread experiment I'll be feeling even better. Maybe I can get some pen and paper stuff done and feel a bit better due to that. And maybe I can continue to hang on.
