Week 917

Day 6413 - 1/21 - Half off laundry

Today there isn't much new to talk about. I did another blood test, and a pee test, but at the time I'd gone offline for the night the results haven't been posted. I expect there is no change in kidney results. I don't feel any better. If anything I have more symptoms of leg and joint pain and even some pain near my left kidney. (Though that may be a sprain due to bad sleeping position.)

I did my laundry during the Monday holiday. To my great surprise after loading it into the washer and locking the door it immediately started up. Someone must have paid for a load and then for some reason not done it. That was a huge boon as that is $7, which is probably around 60% of the total laundry cost. (For just cloths, no blankets.)

Lately I've been spending way too much time on a really stupid assignment. It's probably hitting 6+ hours now. The problem is I have to get physical material and work with that to replicate 80s style. Which makes no sense. You can't replicate fonts and images from the 80s with media produced in 2026. Especially since 98% of all media is using pretty generic Times or Ariel style fonts. They all look the same from publication to publication because they want readability. It's dumb and has given me a lot of headaches.

I guess other than that the day has been ok. I have a super fun game update to play with tomorrow so that is nice. I have to finish the stupid assignment first, and I'd really like to finish some pen and paper updates I was doing, so I probably won't get to play much until the weekend.

Day 6414 - 1/22 - Only 5%

Today I got my kidney results back. I suppose the good news is that it is slightly better, but by only 5% less bad. It will need to improve like 3-4 more times like that before it's back into the normal range again.

I had a stupid assignment for school to do, so I barely had time for anything else. I guess the good news is this week is now done, so I don't have to do anything else until Monday if I don't want to. (The next week is up already, so I could start getting ahead if I wanted.)

I had a bit of a migraine today, and the kidney results were disappointing, but not surprising. So I guess it was a pretty average day overall.

Day 6415 - 1/23 - Pretty good

Today was pretty good. I finally got a chance to finish the pen and paper stuff I was working on, so that was nice. And one of my favorite games got a big patch so I got to spend time playing that.

There were some people I didn't want near me, so I literally had to grit my teeth and bear it for several hours, but I managed to hang on and not get too upset. So today was pretty good, but I still hope tomorrow will be better.

Day 6416 - 1/24 - Ok day

Today was pretty ok. I took the day off and didn't do any pen and paper stuff, nor did I check school stuff. I did a super creative thing for laughs for about an hour though, so that was a nice something different.

Food was ok. I even had a bread with lunch and things seem fine. I had a bread a few days ago and it was fine then too. I'm certainly not going to test cake or breakfast muffins yet, but my gluten sensitivity may be backing off a bit. Though this may mean I have to regularly not have gluten things to find a balance point and do have to change my average eating habit forever.

Day 6417 - 1/25 - Too many tests

Today I probably am doing too many tests at once. It started with a muffin (which I got because I didn't want the same chocolate donut I got yesterday), which can be pretty much the second biggest offender in terms of upset tummy. I also had a juice which my tummy has pretty much always been sensitive to fruit juices. I also got a bagel, which seems medium to low risky. And then chicken, which the food store doesn't always cook right. My tummy was upset for a bit after eating lunch, but it is settling down pretty quickly. If I get to the end of the night and things are ok then maybe the gluten issue is finally clearing up. Though I still think the highest likelihood is it is somehow tied to the kidney dysfunction.

I guess today has been ok so far. I feel pretty tired though.

Day 6418 - 1/26 - Maybe free game

Today there is a new free game coming out that I'll maybe play. I guess we'll see. I suppose I should try and power through the class stuff for the week, but so often it's just dumb and gives me headaches. I don't expect anything else special or different.

Day 6419 - 1/27 - Probably regular day

Today will probably be a regular homeless day. I don't expect anything new or different. Hopefully I'll continue to hang on and have a restful day.

Week 918

Day 6420 - 1/28 - Late posting

Today I am a bit disappointed. I did all of the stuff posted for class on Monday. It felt a bit light, but I was ready to have the rest of the week off. Yesterday I noticed some stuff had been added, so today I had to spend a bunch of time doing more, and I'll have to spend probably an hour doing more tomorrow.

I guess the day was ok other than that. Just having that show up has kind of ruined my mood since I expected to have time off from class.

Day 6421 - 1/29 - Non-starter

Today was basically literally a non-starter. I went to the food store in the morning, and for the first time in basically 9 months I decided to get some pot stickers to microwave to eat for the day. I forget when, but I had some a few months ago right when gluten issues were starting and they ended badly, so I've been ignoring them since.

When I left the store the car didn't start. It still could power fans and such, but it just made a clicking noise. I figured I'd waited too long to recharge the dying battery and had to call the tow people to get a jump. As expected, it started easily with the jump. But the battery check levels which previously were half green were now all flat red. And the charge capacity percent was way down around 10% whereas a year ago when I last needed a jump it was around 60%. So I had no choice but to drop $225 getting a new one. (Which thankfully I got back $20 by giving them the old dying one.) So I guess that happening and needing to buy it locally (online didn't have my previous one and showed 2 weeks for a replacement one) worked out for the best. Had I recharged the dying one I would have assumed it would have been fine for at least another 8 months, whereas it probably really only would have lasted another maybe month at most with how extremely low its capacity had gotten.

Unfortunately I lost the $4 I spent on the on sale pot stickers. By the time I got the new battery and was safe to go wherever, the place I could have cooked them would have very likely been closed for the weekend. (School has some really short and dumb hours since they had the apocalypse closures.)

My day was inverted, stressful, and all of my mood was thrown off for the day. But now as I settle into the evening, hopefully everything is back on track for a normal homeless day tomorrow. And hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Day 6422 - 1/30 - Perma ban chicken tenders

Today I am perma banning the chicken tenders from the regular food store. It's been probably since before the apocalypse since they were actually 'good'. It's been months since I last got them and the chicken is still the driest ever, and the crust hard as a rock. (Which is extremely disrespectful both to the customer and the chicken which had to be killed to make that food.) Even though they only cost $2 on sale for the Friday sale it wasn't at all worth it.

I took the day off and probably will the weekend as well. I've had moderate headaches and eye strain for most of the week now. And I feel pretty tired overall. It may just be because of winter and the library not really being heated, I don't know. I guess though the day wasn't too bad. Certainly not as bad as yesterday.

Day 6423 - 1/31 - Risk of cake

Today I had a pretty restful day. I was still pretty depressed about everything, especially since I was recently reminded that my food money is at risk. I haven't been super careful about conserving. It should have about half a month of normal food eating money when it would normally cycle though, so I wouldn't immediately be out of money. A week from now on the 6th hopefully my money will be there as usual and I'll feel safer.

I've been extremely hungry lately. I am still adjusting and trying to think of ways to feel full and replace the gluten things I'm reducing or things to replace them. I am doing an experiment tonight though. I haven't had pound cake since I started cutting gluten things off about 3 months ago, but since I've recently been ok reintroducing things I thought I'd give it a try. Like this morning I had a muffin (and a bit of bread) and felt fine. And every 2-3 days for a couple of weeks now I've had donuts or bagels and been fine. So cake is a big test. Not only is it one of the highest offenders, because of it being a big loaf, and going bad over time, I'll have about a 1.5" piece every night for nearly a week for dessert. So we'll see how that goes, especially if I compensate for it by being extra light on other glutens during the day. Hopefully I'll have a good report on that tomorrow.

Day 6424 - 2/1 - No cake damage

Today I am happy to report there is no cake damage. It maybe affected me a little, but certainly wasn't the 4-6 hours of discomfort it had reached a few months ago. Hopefully that means I'm getting back to normal, but I will still probably keep some of my changed gluten habits.

It's been a pretty restful day. Though my tummy hasn't felt great about lunch, which was half of a pack of 'bar food' I got yesterday. I think it's not related to a gluten issue, but because of the beef stick issues and cheese sensitivity. I feel pretty tired and a bit sad but hopefully today will be an ok day.

Day 6425 - 2/2 - Regular Monday with class

Today should be a pretty regular Monday, but with class stuff for the moment. Hopefully it will be a restful and calm day. Hopefully when I do class stuff this time more doesn't appear later.

Day 6426 - 2/3 - Probably regular Tuesday

Today should be a regular day. I don't expect anything. And I don't think anything special is happening.
